Pemmican made with Grass Fed Jerky Chews

Summer is just around the corner, and I bet you already planning fun outdoor adventures like camping, hiking, swimming, rock climbing to name a few. That means you will need to pack nutritious and satisfying foods and snacks to take with you. You can take just Jerky Chews or try making Pemmican with it. Rina shares a little about the snack and how she prepared it for her family....

Pemmican is a concentrated mixture of fat and protein used as a nutritious food. The word comes from the Cree word pimîhkân, which itself is derived from the word pimî, "fat, grease".[1] It was invented by the native peoples of North America.[2][3] It was widely adopted as a high-energy food by Europeans involved in the fur trade and later by Arctic and Antarctic explorers, such as Robert Falcon Scott and Roald Amundsen. It is basically a very sustainable superfood. When made at home it does not require refrigeration and can last for a very long time.

Here is what we did with our Grass Fed Jerky Chews to turn them into Pemmican.

Step 1: Grind the jerky in food processor

Grinded jerky

2. Step 2: equal amount of Beef Tallow

Equal amount of tallow rendered until sizzling

Step 3: Mix grinded jerky in the pan no photo. ....

Step 4: Pour into muffin cups. Let cool. I put in freezer for few min.

It was very filling!
